The sixth day of training at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg, Germany

A workshop "Competence Development: Competence models and competence dimensions. Learner centred didactics." by Austrian professors from the Pädagogische Hochschule Tirol of KazDual project.

20.06.2022 working group of the project KazDual - "The implementation of dual system in Kazakhstan," program Erasmus + is actively involved in a workshop "Competence Development: Competence models and competence dimensions. Learner centred didactics", conducted by the Austrian team of Pädagogische Hochschule Tirol KazDual: Dr. Regina Maties, Ingrid Hotarek and Iris Kahn. The purpose of the training is to explore the learning outcomes, analysis of different competency models. Key competencies for a successful career were considered. The participants of the first part of workshop “Competence models and competence dimensions” were introduced to various competency models and analyzed the relevance of various competency dimensions for the teaching/learning environment of the respective work/professional area, and identified the role of dual learning in the formation of competencies.

The next section of the workshop, "Learner-Centered Didactics", aimed to explain the main aspects of learner-centered didactics and to reflect on the role of the teacher in the context of this didactic approach. Training participants did independent work in pairs to identify the criteria for learner-centered didactics.

Important points for discussion were the main aspects of student-centered didactics and comprehension of the role of the teacher in the context of this didactic approach, the study of methods that support learning, student-centered learning. The groups presented their mock-ups of person-centered didactics of student-centered learning in each major.

Particular emphasis was placed on important competencies of the XXI century as: critical thinking, collaboration, creativity and communicativeness.

Having considered the approaches to the formation of competencies highlighted the importance of high adaptability combined with high self-awareness, which lead to the so-called "smart performance behavior".

The problem: what to study for and what goal to strive for? faces every educational institution. Formulating learning and development goals is difficult due to the difficult to predict and complex processes of change. Therefore, metacompetencies are a prerequisite for sustainable career-enhancing competencies and behaviors.

Dr. Regina Mathies emphasized the concept of "Lifelong Learning," which is becoming increasingly important in today's world. Professionally relevant knowledge is rapidly becoming obsolete (global competition, social trends, digitalization...).

Overcoming these problems is successfully solved through dual education and the formation of appropriate skills and employability in students.
