Regine Mathies held a seminar on the competence development. Work was carried out to define clear boundaries between the concepts of competencies, skills and abilities. Regine Mathies emphasized that all stakeholders involved in the process of training students should have the same understanding of their meaning. The key competencies of the student were considered, such as social competencies, subject competencies, methodological competencies and self competencies, including within the framework of the dual educational system. Along with this, the importance of metacompetences for the employment of future graduates was mentioned.

In the second part of the seminar, issues related to the student-centered approach to learning, its main characteristics and factors influencing it were considered. The main methods and strategies for the implementation of this type of training were shown. The seminar was accompanied by the performance of group work on each of the topics. The project participants were actively involved in the process, each of the groups shared their experience and views on the further development of the system of training students in their own university.
